The Extension Art activity seeks to provide interested students with the opportunity to further extend their knowledge of art and their attendant skill base. The program is available to boys in Years 7 – 12 and is held during after school workshops that are delivered by the School’s Art teachers or outsourced experts.
Typical activities include digital photography (Photography Club), tonal drawing (Omega HB Society), digital media (Digital Media Group) and Polymer Creatures (creating models). The courses usually run for four or five weeks during terms 1, 2, 3 and 4 with exhibitions often held at the end of courses. Parents will be invited to see the work created.
The Head of the Art Department, Ms Angela Brown, coordinates these activities.

The Brisbane Grammar Art Show 2017
The Brisbane Grammar School Art Committee is proud to present the 48th Annual Art Show “Evolve". This year's feature artist is BGS Old Boy Scott Breton '99, a Fine Artist. The event will feature a ticketed Gala Opening on Friday 11 August at 7.00pm and free admission on Saturday 12 August, 10-3pm on BGS Open Day.
The Annual Art Show was inaugurated in 1970 to coincide with the School's Foundation Day, before being moved to Open Day. Its aim was to enrich the cultural life of the boys and the wider school community through the exhibition of art works, which lead to the establishment of the School's art collection.
The Gala Opening is a highlight of the School's social calendar. It has become one of the largest exhibitions of Queensland established artists, the proceeds of which contribute to the art collection, the artist in residence programme and the support of the art department resources/projects.
If you would like to be involved in the Art Show as either an exhibitor, sponsor or supporter, contact the Art Committee on email email@example.com.
