The School has a proud tradition of both participation and excellence in music activities. The boys participate enthusiastically in the music program, learning important life skills like self-discipline, team work, confidence, resilience, imagination and creativity. There are three aspects of the music program the boys can be involved in no matter what their level of experience or skill development:

There are also many extension activities available to boys in music including:
Composition Camp – a one week retreat fostering the development of student composers.
GPS Music Day and JSA Music Day of Excellence – joining the elite student musicians from the other GPS schools in what are days of outstanding music performances.
Australian Combined Schools Music Festival – a biennial coming together of musicians from other states to perform and exchange ideas.
String Festivals – featuring events for intermediate and advanced string ensembles.
Domestic and International Concert Tours – Advanced Ensembles.
Other community and school festivals.
The School is committed to offering its boys an excellent performance experience no matter what their level of experience is. The award winning and widely acclaimed elite performance groups allow the most advanced student musicians the opportunity to explore quality, professional repertoire. Supporting such groups is also an array of other ensembles offering quality ensemble experiences in various settings. There are many performance opportunities for the ensembles including but not limited to the following:

Parents are a vital part of the music program with a very active Music Support Group offering organisational and moral support throughout the many concerts, festivals and other activities.
