Under the leadership of the Director of Outdoor Education, Brisbane Grammar School’s Outdoor Education Program represents an integral part of the total education of our students.
The program is sequential in nature and strives to build upon past experiences. Most programs are based at the School’s purpose built centre, Pepperina Hill, on the shores of Lake Moogerah. The standard operation of the centre is consistent from year to year so students are familiar with expectations and are comfortable within that environment.
The focus of outdoor education is to develop strength within the individual, between individuals, and between individual groups and the environment. The core program is adventure based and focuses very much on experiential education. There are also expedition components within the program for each year level and different objectives for each year level. All programs are designed to complement the physical and emotional maturity of the group.
The BGS Outdoor Education Program promotes competent and capable problem solvers who show initiative and are able to adapt to ever changing environments.
