Orientation Day - Monday 23 January 2017
Almost 300 excited new students were welcomed to Brisbane Grammar School today, including 18 new boarders.
During a number of addresses the boys and their parents heard from the Headmaster, Head of Middle School, Director of Outdoor Education, and School Captain in The Lilley Centre, as part of the Orientation Day program.
Headmaster Anthony Micallef said the first day of any school year is exciting, but when joining a new school there is added eagerness and anticipation. “I am sure there was a flurry of activity in your households this morning,” he said. “We are delighted that you have chosen BGS to educate your son.”
“For almost 150 years BGS has shaped meaningful learning experiences for boys to become men of character. We look forward to sharing your families’ journey at BGS. We openly aspire to be the best boys’ school in Australia. Our mantra Nil Sine Labore – nothing without labour, defines who we are and shapes the enactment of our values.”
Parents were able to meet the BGS Senior Leadership Team, including the Headmaster, and others toured the campus.
Middle School students were introduced to their Prefects and Form Seniors, and spent time around the campus and in classrooms.
Best of luck to the newest members of the BGS community for 2017, and for the rest of your BGS journeys.
