An emerging origin player

BGS Old Boy Lachi Lanskey '13 has been named in the Queensland State of Origin Emerging U20 Squad for 2017. He has been a regular for the Brisbane Broncos U20 team this year and is well placed to move in to the Broncos NRL and Queensland Maroons teams in the coming years.

Lanskey said he couldn't really explain what it meant to pull on the Broncos and Maroons jerseys. “Words really can't explain the feeling," he said. “It has been a dream since I was seven years old to play in the NRL and knowing that it is reachable is very exciting. Throwing on a Broncos jersey every weekend isn't something everyone gets to do, which makes the experience very humbling and something I will never forget."

“Being selected in the Emerging Origin squad was also very humbling. It is good to know that I have been playing some good footy over the past few years, even with it being injury ridden. Last year I was unavailable due to injury so hopefully this year I can stay out on the paddock and be out there (against the NSW U20 team) before the third State of Origin game."

Hailing from Bundaberg and a boarder during his time at BGS, Lanskey said the School had prepared him well for life after graduating. “I am now in my third year of studying a Bachelor of Mass Communications at QUT part time," he said. “A big reason for choosing this course was during Year 12 I was able to identify what would suit me and what wouldn't without having to attend university first and realise halfway through a course that it wasn't for me."
