The start of Term 3 is an exciting time for our Year 6 students as they embark on their highly anticipated Canberra trip. The first stop is Jindabyne where the boys enjoy a day skiing at Blue Cow. For many students, this is their first time on the ski fields and it certainly provides a high degree of challenge and fun. Beginning the day with a two-hour ski lesson, the boys learn basic skills and build their confidence before enjoying an afternoon of free skiing.
The second part of the trip brings learning to life by enriching and consolidating the Year 6 academic program where boys explore Federation and Australians at war. Visiting icons such as Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial and the National Museum, students create authentic links between their classroom learning and real-life experiences. Students gain a greater appreciation and understanding of Australia's unique heritage, its development as a multicultural nation and its participation in global events since Federation.
The Canberra trip is a memorable experience and one our students cherish throughout their years at Brisbane Grammar School.
