The Palmes D’Officer D’Academie medal was presented to Basil Porter in 1933. He was French Master on the staff from 1892-1933. The medal is framed with three accompanying documents, and hangs in the School Archives. One of the documents is a letter from Buckingham Palace, dated 1 January 1934, which states that the King gives Basil Porter the honour to wear the medal. The Basil Porter Memorial prize was founded by Porter’s wife in his honour.
