    Harlin's unpublished textbook

Though this is likely not his handwriting, Thomas Harlin, MA compiled the work for his unpublished textbook, Treatise on Plane and Spherical Trigonometry over a nine-year period from about 1867 to 1875. Before coming to Queensland, he had studied Mathematics at St Peter’s College (now Peterhouse), Cambridge, where he was elected fellow and then awarded ninth wrangler in 1856. A wrangler must achieve first-class honours in Mathematics in the third year of an undergraduate degree, and Thomas Harlin achieved the ninth highest mark.
