In 1940, Old Boy William Grant (BGS 1889-1891) painted this lovely watercolour, Woman Feeding Fowls 2, which portrays the backyard of his house ‘Bimbimbie’, in Nundah.
While at the School he was taught art by Drawing Master James Cowan. He later studied at Brisbane’s Central Technical College under R Godfrey Rivers, becoming a prominent Queensland watercolour painter and printmaker. He played a significant role in the Queensland Art Society and the Queensland National Gallery. Lloyd Rees referred to William Grant as Queensland’s most dynamic painter.
