    C. Flint book prize 1878

    Charles Flint (BGS 1874-1879) was awarded several volumes of the leather-bound Lives of the Engineers VI as book prize for winning the Cockle Prize for Mathematics in 1878. He was awarded the Silver Lilley Medal in 1876, and won an extension scholarship to finish his schooling. He taught at the School in 1882 and 1900, was briefly Headmaster of Ipswich Grammar School, and subsequently held many other distinguished educational appointments.‚Äč
