The 1924 four-volume Golden Book is one of the most valuable items in the School collection. It contains the names and records of the 1020 Old Boys who volunteered for service in the First World War. Each name and record occupies an entire page, surrounded by an interlacing border of Flanders poppies.
It was compiled by Stuart Stephenson, Headmaster from 1928-1940. The calligraphy was the work of an Old Boy, Charles Bennett Fox. The border of poppies was designed by Madge Roe, daughter of Reginald Heber Roe, second headmaster of the School from 1876-1909.
