    Betty Howell memorial window

This memorial stained-glass window in the Great Hall celebrates 25 years of service to the School from 1965 to 1989 by Headmaster, Maxwell A. Howell and his wife, Joan Elizabeth (Betty) Howell. The Art Committee commissioned artists Tony Vaughan and Jude Wixon to design the window which was unveiled on 5 November 1989. There is a circular motif in each of the three sections of the lancet window to symbolize different virtues – wisdom, knowledge and honour – portraying the qualities of the Howell era. An interesting feature of the window is that the letter ‘H” is a repetitive motif throughout the border.
