The Extension Art activity seeks to provide interested students with the opportunity to further extend their knowledge of art and their attendant skill base. The program is available to boys in Years 7 – 12 and is held during after school workshops that are delivered by the School's Art teachers or outsourced experts.
Typical activities include photography (Photography Club), tonal drawing (Omega HB Society), and digital media (Digital Media Group). The courses usually run for four or five weeks during terms 1, 2, 3 and 4 with exhibitions often held at the end of courses. Parents will be invited to see the work created.
The Head of the Art Department, Ms Angela McCormack, coordinates these activities.

The Brisbane Grammar School Art Support Group is proud to present the 49th Annual Art Show Connection. The event will feature a ticketed Gala Opening on Friday 14 September at 7.00pm and free admission on Saturday 15 September, 10.00am-3.00pm on BGS Open Day. To book a ticket at the Gala Opening click here.
The Annual Art Show was inaugurated in 1970 to coincide with the School's Foundation Day, before being moved to Open Day. Its aim was to enrich the cultural life of the boys and the wider school community through the exhibition of art works, which lead to the establishment of the School's art collection.
This year BGS celebrates its 150th year since its foundation and we are delighted to present our Feature Artists 2018: Showcase of BGS Alumni. Click here to read their bios.
The proceeds of the show support the artist in residence programme, the procurement and maintenance of the schools art collection and helps fund art department resources/projects. The proceeds are also used to support other departments at BGS such as Music and Drama.
