BGS Emerging Artist Award Winners

2022

BGS Year 12 student Angus Bissett was the recipient of the 2022 Brisbane Grammar School Emerging Artist Award.

As an emerging artist, Angus displays a sophistication and intention in his art to document a ‘world that begs to be captured and transformed’.

His photographic works specifically bring forward objects that are considered mundane to take centre stage.

Angus received $1000 prize money from the BGS Art Support Group towards his exhibition at the 2022 BGS Art Show.

2021

BGS Old Boy Campbell Jones was the recipient of the 2021 Brisbane Grammar School Emerging Artist Award.

Campbell is inspired by the power of art to create conversation, provide meaning and transfer information.

He is interested in networks and structures, specifically the way in which they transfer information and shape our ways of seeing.

During his time at BGS, Campbell won the 2015 Outstanding Artist for the Senior Art Exhibition and in 2016 received an honourable mention in Creative Generations.
