BGS Artist-in-Residence

THURSDAY 16 FEBRUARY 2023

The BGS Art Support Group this week welcomed Victorian portrait artist Daniel Butterworth for a stimulating evening of art.

With so many new faces joining the Art Show Committee, this was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get to know each other through a shared love of art and recognition of the School's contribution to the Brisbane art community.

Daniel, a finalist in the 2016 Archibald Prize, painted a stunning portrait of an audience member, leaving the Art Support Group mesmerised by his expressive style and approach.

As BGS Artist-in-Residence, Daniel also hosted a two-day workshop with Years 10-12 Art students.

The BGS Art Support Group is proud to announce Old Boy Campbell Jones '16 as the winner of the 2021 Emerging Artist Award. Campbell receives $1,000 prize money towards his @bgsartshow exhibition.

The breadth and depth of Campbell’s works can be seen on his Instagram page @jnzo_online.

Studio ceramics is the main focus of Years 5 and 8 Visual Arts, and the Ceramic Club is a popular Middle School Cocurricular activity. Years 11 and 12 students who choose clay as the media for their bodies of work will also benefit.

The new kiln will be installed from April 2021 and it will also be accommodated in the new STEAM precinct.
