Needs-based bursaries have been a priority at the School since classes began in 1869. Today, bursaries ensure that BGS continues to honour its commitment to access and diversity.
The Bursary Fund was established to build an endowment bursaries in perpetuity. With the principal invested and preserved, the income generated is used to expand fee-assisted access for students. The School aims to progressively increase the proportion of students offered bursarial support to 10% of the student cohort (170 students). These bursaries are offered to regional and Indigenous students and to families experiencing significant hardship.
For this initiative to be sustainable, BGS must raise a further $4.5M to bring the Bursary Fund to $20M.
