Over 14 electrifying days—from 10 to 24 April—swimmers from around the nation put on their finest displays of athleticism at the 2025 Australian Age and Open Championships at Brisbane Aquatic Centre.
The Australian Age Championships served as a celebration of consistency and persistence with the BGS squad making it within touching distance of just under 30 individual medals and securing an incredible eighth place out of 196 clubs across Australia.
A historic result for BGS, representative of the vision, talent and dedication of our swimmers and coaching staff.
BGS Swim Club Director and Head Coach, Bobby Jovanovich, returned from the events instilled with an immense sense of pride in our young competitors and excitement for the future.
“BGS Swimming is making waves as it competes with the best in the country, showcasing exceptional talent and impressive performances on the national stage,” Bobby said.
“The future holds immense promise with a remarkable cohort advancing through this pathway, and numerous Old Boys and senior athletes from the Brisbane Grammar School Swim Club poised for Australian Team success in the near future.”

Old Boys at the Open Championships: Eyes on the World Stage
As our Open swimmers prepare for the upcoming World Championship Trials in June, they delivered strong performances at the National Open Championships, demonstrating their steady progress and hunger for international success.
A special congratulations to Old Boys Edward Sommerville and William Jordan ‘22, who both claimed silver medals and made a strong statement ahead of the 2025 World Championship selection trials in six weeks.
We look forward to seeing their hard work pay off on the national and international stage.
