Effective Thinking Cultures

Over four years, we immersed our education leaders in strategic planning to create our own culture and infrastructure for supporting holistic learner development. Known as Effective Thinking Cultures (ETC), this school-wide project optimises the learning of each student.

“ETC supports the systematic development of our boys as thinkers and learners who can respond confidently to unanticipated challenges during and beyond their years of formal education.”

Leading Educational Innovation

Effective thinking and learning supports the systematic development of our students as effective thinkers and self-regulated learners – creating thinkers who can respond confidently to anticipated and unanticipated challenges during and beyond their years of formal education

One of the innovative practices includes the introduction of daily consolidation and preparation time in both the Middle and Senior School, where students can make sense of their classroom experiences and plan the next steps in their learning.

The opportunity to develop and repeat these self-directed strategies in a dedicated, structured period encourages boys to develop productive personal and academic habits.
