Brisbane Grammar School (BGS) is committed to the wellbeing and safety of every student in its care. The School maintains a strict zero tolerance approach to abuse, neglect or any form of harm or inappropriate behaviour involving children and young people.

BGS acts in accordance with the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 and applies the Child Safe Standards and Universal Principle to ensure a school environment that is safe and inclusive for all.

Our accreditation with the Australian Childhood Foundation reflects our strong and ongoing commitment to effective safeguarding policies and procedures. The Australian Childhood Foundation works with the School and provides independent safeguarding expertise, training, audits and accreditation programs that help us build a child‑safe culture and demonstrate compliance with child‑safe standards and legislative safeguarding obligations. This commitment requires all staff and volunteers to model and promote behaviours that protect students from harm and inappropriate behaviour. Staff undertake comprehensive safeguarding education and mandatory reporting training, supported by regular refresher programs to maintain the highest standards of student safety.

Safeguarding at BGS is also underpinned by our Protect and Connect (PAC) framework, which articulates the shared beliefs, expectations and actions that enable students to feel safe, supported and known. The PAC initiative is informed by three Cultural Projects: Bullying Prevention, Respectful Relationships & Healthy Sexuality, and Student Leadership Development. Each project is rooted in contemporary research and has undergone external review and validation. PAC helps socialise the core principles of these projects throughout the school community.

BGS policies relating to the safeguarding of students can be accessed here.  All policies are regularly reviewed in accordance with legislation.

Any questions or concerns regarding student safeguarding at Brisbane Grammar School may be directed to the Head of Senior School, Mr Simon Conway [[email protected]], or the Head of Middle School, Ms Rebecca Campbell [[email protected]].

At Brisbane Grammar School, our primary responsibility is to provide a safe environment for all children and young people.
