Growing Minds Need Active and Creative Pursuits
At BGS, boys are encouraged to excel both in the classroom and beyond - on stage, at the sporting fields, in ensembles, and more.
Our extensive and inclusive Cocurricular Program is a core part of a holistic BGS education. It complements our Academic and Student Wellbeing Programs, offering exciting opportunities for boys to pursue their interests, collaborate with others, and develop confidence, through Sport, STEAM and other activities and the Performing Arts (Music and Drama).

BGS Boys are Active and Engaged
95% of students participate in two or more cocurricular activities - a reflection of the success of our programs and the spirit of BGS boys.
Whether it be in teams, clubs, ensembles, or productions, through our Cocurricular Program boys enhance their social skills and develop leadership qualities.
Sport
Boys of all abilities are encouraged to get involved - from the Great Public Schools’ Association (GPS) competition to those trying a new sport or activity for the first time. With a focus on teamwork, commitment, discipline, and goal setting, every boy is encouraged to challenge himself and try something new.
Music and Drama
Cultural activities are woven into everyday life at Brisbane Grammar School.
With more than 30 musical groups - including orchestras, bands, and vocal ensembles, BGS musicians of all skill levels can find a place to shine.
The School’s Drama Department stages three dramatic productions each year for Middle and Senior School students, giving boys creative opportunities to connect with audiences and entertain.
Clubs and Activities
With more than 45 clubs and activities on offer, BGS boys have endless opportunities to explore new interests, build friendships, and have fun.
Explore Cocurricular
I’m incredibly grateful for the School’s encouragement to simultaneously study hard, practice music and play sport. We were encouraged to be well-rounded individuals—an ideal I still endeavour to uphold in my life and career.
