Boys Thrive When They Feel Safe, Supported and Connected.
At BGS, our pastoral structures are intentionally designed to cater to boys’ developmental needs at various stages of adolescence.
Throughout their BGS journey, boys are supported by their Head of Year, Assistant Heads of Year and Form Tutors. From Years 7 – 12, the Head of Year travels with the cohort, providing high quality care, support and longitudinal connection.
Regular surveys are conducted to monitor student wellbeing and provide key staff with useful insights into cohort trends and individual student needs.
We support BGS boys to become well-adjusted, optimistic, resilient and engaged young men.
We aspire to be the best school for boys in Australia, providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and enabling them to develop a sense of belonging and maximise their potential.

Connected Through Community
Our Public Purpose program enables boys to explore servant leadership through volunteering locally and in overseas immersion programs. Through these and other opportunities, boys are encouraged to give back to the wider community. This engagement helps develop thoughtful, empathetic and culturally aware young men.
Student Wellbeing Program
The Student Wellbeing Program consists of a bespoke and robust wellbeing curriculum, as well as experiences that support boys to become global citizens that contribute positively to their communities.
As well as weekly wellbeing lessons, boys benefit from visits by external experts in a variety of fields. Our Parent Wellbeing Series recognises the critical role parents play in supporting their son’s wellbeing and aims to provide parents with relevant, timely and useful information to support their son’s development. Parental engagement is central to our tripartite approach to supporting boys’ wellbeing.
Leadership is one of our core values at BGS. In addition to formal leadership positions, boys are provided authentic opportunities to lead through the Public Purpose and Outdoor Education programs.
Friendly, forthright and respectful, Brisbane Grammar School graduates are confident and independent thinkers who are capable of taking on the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
Building Wellbeing Through Outdoor Education
Boys form lifelong memories and build the confidence to tackle life’s challenges through our Outdoor Education program.
Located 90 minutes from Brisbane, our Outdoor Education Centre on the shores of Lake Moogerah offers canoeing, climbing, hiking, and orienteering in a stunning natural setting. By Year 10, students have the skills to camp independently, spending nights under the stars.
Guided by a team of specialist educators, students learn survival skills and develop personal skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, and resilience.
They also gain a deeper appreciation for nature and Indigenous culture. With permission from the Traditional Owners, the Ugarapul people, boys learn stories about the area.
When reflecting on their time at Moogerah, the boys often speak of unforgettable experiences, friendships, and a sense of achievement that stays with them long after graduation.
BGS creates an environment where boys feel safe, connected and supported
The peer atmosphere at BGS was incredible, in terms of inspiration, motivation, and learning opportunities.

Introducing PAC
Protect and Connect (PAC) is an initiative which focuses on further enhancing the student culture at the School. Students’ attention is focused on creating an environment free from bullying and informed by healthy and respectful relationship, both cultural norms championed through effective student leadership. The positive student culture at the School exists to benefit students, teachers, parents and our broader BGS community alike. Brisbane Grammar School is committed to giving our students the best opportunities to thrive, not only academically but also socially.
PAC arose from our investment in three key projects: Bullying Prevention, Respectful Relationships and Student Leadership Development.
These three projects create a culture at BGS that makes our students feel safe, secure, heard and respected.
PAC is all about protecting our people and creating positive connections.
