I think my most memorable moment at Moogerah was the first time I realised how special the place is. We were in the middle of kayaking across Lake Moogerah, back to the main site, when it began to rain. At first, I felt tired and resented the bad weather, but then I looked around the area and surveyed the tall mountains in the grey mist. Before that point, I had not realised just how beautiful and grand they were. I vividly remember being in awe at the size of the rocks, the slopes and peaks, when in prior years I could only focus on the pain.
It was a special moment and got me pumped up for the rest of the week and for future camps. I think it also gave me a real appreciation of nature beyond the concrete jungle that is Brisbane.
