Sport

Since Brisbane Grammar School opened in 1869, cocurricular pursuits have played a fundamental role in developing well-rounded graduates.

The School provides opportunities for boys to engage in sport at all levels – from beginner teams to the Great Public Schools’ Association (GPS) competition.

At BGS, sport and activities complement the academic experience and provide important learning opportunities. With a focus on teamwork, commitment, discipline, setting goals and striving for personal bests, every boy is encouraged to challenge himself and try something new.

BGS has won many accolades and premierships over the years, and students are regularly selected to represent state and national teams in their chosen disciplines.

Sports Uniform Update

At the end of the first year of the sports uniform we are pleased to provide an update. Our thanks are extended to BGS parents and the P & F Auxiliary for their support of this project.

This year all BGS Flagship teams and most BGS students competing in other teams, did so in our new uniforms.  Students like the new garments, and our teams looked unified, whilst proudly representing the Light, Dark Blue.

In 2025, there will be a minor modification to the Flagship and program designs to optimise the use of the School’s traditional sporting colours; Light Blue (Cambridge) and Dark Blue (Oxford). The images shown here, illustrate the modifications to be made, displayed in this instance using the Football program uniform and the First XI uniform. These changes will not result in additional cost or a need to repurchase, as both original and modified lines may be worn concurrently.

For those unfamiliar with this project, we repeat the pre-launch position, that the traditional look of BGS First XV Rugby uniform would remain, given its 50+ year legacy. It does not have the Light Blue bars, pictured here, and is not subject to the modifications mentioned above.

Finally, in 2025, the BGS Supporter lines will start to be released for parents and community members to enjoy. Look out for more information on these from the relevant BGS support groups in 2025.

We look forward to your ongoing support of BGS as we commence an exciting year ahead in 2025.
