Effective Thinking Cultures

Over four years, we immersed our education leaders in strategic planning to create our own culture and infrastructure for supporting holistic learner development. Known as Effective Thinking Cultures (ETC), this school-wide project optimises the learning of each student.

Welcome to the
Brisbane Grammar
School Family

We are an inclusive community, where students from diverse backgrounds combine to live the School's values of learning, leadership, endeavor, respect and community.

Every boy is given a place to belong and an opportunity to excel. Our broad liberal education, combined with extensive Cocurricular and Student Wellbeing programs, provides every boy with the  grounding to take on diverse careers.

There is a work ethic, a humility and competitive attitude which boys from rural centres bring to the school and in our experience, it is an attitude which is absolutely infectious.

Welcome to the Middle School

Developing the whole person

A Brisbane Grammar School education involves more than learning facts and figures. Our proud tradition of liberal education is about developing the whole person - each boy's character as well as his intellectual ability.

In Years 5 to 8, Middle School students explore and experience the diverse opportunities on offer, laying the foundation for success in their senior years. Form Seniors - boys in Year 12 who become part of the younger classes for special activities and mentoring - act as role models for the younger boys.

Middle School Learning Overview

Curriculum Years
7-9

Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 complete a broad and diverse curriculum that enables them to develop knowledge, skill and understanding across all subject areas and disciplines.

The learning schedule at each year level provides the opportunity for engagement in core, specialist and elective subjects as well as opportunities to build skills associated with inquiry, interdisciplinary and project-based learning.
