Welcome to the Swimming Program
The Swimming program is based at our Spring Hill Campus and operates year-round in our state-of-the-art, indoor 10-lane FINA-standard swimming pool. The program also enjoys unlimited access to a 50m outdoor pool located just 2km from the School, offering exceptional facilities for swimmers of all levels.
BGS has a proud tradition of swimming excellence, dating back to Old Boy Frank Gailey, who won four medals at the 1904 St Louis Olympics. Building on this legacy, the program has consistently produced swimmers who represent Australia on the world stage, with team selections in major international competitions including:
- 2015 World Swimming Championships
- 2015 World Junior Swimming Championships
- 2016 Rio Olympic Games
- 2017 World Swimming Championships
- 2018 Commonwealth Games
- 2018 Youth Olympics
- 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Games
- 2019 World Junior Swimming Championships
- 2019 World Swimming Championships
- 2022 Australia A Team
- 2023 World Junior Swimming Championships
- 2024 London Olympic Games
- 2024 World Short Course Swimming Championships
While high performance remains a key focus, the program also supports a wide range of competitive opportunities. Swimmers are prepared to compete at the GPS and QGSSSA Swimming Championships, Queensland State and Australian Age Championships, as well as local, district, and school-based meets.
We proudly welcome athletes from all aquatic disciplines, including Water Polo, Triathlon, Surf Lifesaving, Royal Lifesaving, and Open Water Swimming, making BGS Swimming a diverse and inclusive community.
